The Sogetsu School of Ikebana of Japan Fourth Grade Teachers Certificate |
I have received a wonderful birthday gift this year. Today I have been presented my Sogetsu School Teachers Diploma (The Fourth Grade) by my teacher Elsbeth von Siebenthal.
Since I have begun my ikebana learning journey in 2012, my teacher Elsbeth encourages me to study Ikebana in a double-disciplined Japanese-Swiss manner which leads to getting Sogetsu School Certificates.
So I have got my First (Yonkyu) and the Second Certificates (Sankyu) of Sogetsu Curriculum at June 2015 which prove my learning of the first book through a method called Kakei-ho.
Then my Third (Nikyu) and the Fourth (Ikkyu) Certificates have arrived at January 2017 from Japan. These are given when the third (Composition and Line, Color and Mass) and the fourth level of curriculum (Material and Space) have mastered.
Then a 5th book is added to the curriculum which focuses on technique and creation of Sogetsu Ikebana. I finished that this June and finally I was ready to qualify as a teacher.
So now I can safely assume that I am on the beginning of my way to be an Ikebana teacher of Sogetsu School since there are another 8 levels in the Teacher's Diploma as well :)
