Tonal Harmony

Colorful Tulips, Plum, Salix tortuosa

I think the tonal harmony among the stoneware vases and the colorful tulips highlight this work.

Tonal harmony of the tulips with the vase is very satisfying

Tsuribana: Hanging Ikebana

I have participated a wonderful workshop given by Elsbeth von Siebenthal and organized by Ikebana International Geneva Chapter. It is usually not very easy to study hanging arrangements of Sogetsu school in the classroom settings due to the space limitations so this workshop was a great chance to practice. We were given aspidistra leaves, lilies and willow branches. Here you can see some of the arrangements of the participants, as well as mine.

Aspidistra, Glory lily, Salix matsudana tortuosa

Above is my first Tsuribana, Sogetsu Hanging Style Arrangement in the workshop and below is a revisited version at home.

My Beloved Old Japanese Pitcher

Kiwi Branches, Dogwood and Phalaenopsis Orchid

I always adored his old Japanese pitcher of my mother. I love its curvy form, its shiny chocolate glaze and its generous handle. I couldn't use it daily fearing of breaking it, but for ikebana everything is allowed :)

What I find most interesting in this arrangement is the upside dogwood branch on the right. Think about 'Line' in ikebana.
