Miniature Ikebana

Miniature Ikebana Arrangement
I really enjoyed doing this work above with several little containers some of them I made myself or I use everyday in the kitchen like a copper Turkish coffee pot I inherited from my grandmother.

In Miniature Ikebana, the focus is showing particular details of plants, small and distinctive parts of flowers in several small containers. Anything which can hold water such as a perfume bottle, a shot glass, an espresso cup, a small vase, a little box, will do. There should be a connection between these small arrangements, usually five or more, displayed on a base plate.

Miniature ikebana is a trade mark of Ms. Kasumi Teshigahara, Second Iemoto of Sogetsu School until 1980. I always love to see the photos of her intricate miniature creations, light and luxurious works where she used dried or painted materials.

You can see another miniature ikebana arrangement below which belongs to my dear friend Nicole Cevey who used her tiny silver family treasures as the main theme of her work.
